YES – Helping Hands Make a Difference!
Helping Hands Make a Difference at the June Achievement Party!
YES participants get certificates for being part of the Southern Health Trust Programme.
Adventure is no barrier to our YES participants, no mountain to high.
All made possible by many “helping hands”, it is the little things that make the biggest difference.
Each Wednesday at 1900 hrs YES and YES+ groups meet to do fun stuff but also to be challenged to grow and socialise with friends. The programme could not run without the help of many young Buddies and volunteers. Each person is willing to help and that is the only qualification required. Have a look at some of our helping hands that help our YES groups enjoy the YMCA, this really makes a difference in their lives. Helping hand to guide, reassure and keep safe!! Peer helping hands, confidence building! Working together and using those hands! The mentor building confidence in a young person! Friendships, the YMCA is all about friends! What ever it is, it was funny! Messy hands & face! Some like to use their own hands! Using hand to communicate, show you feel safe! Mirroring hands, mirroring behaviour! Yes these giving hands say thank you to Pat who is taking a summer break. All the Yes kids love Pat a local retired lady with a passion to “make a difference in a young life. If you think your hands can do any of the above or something similar, then you need to talk to us about becoming a junior buddy (16-17 yrs) or a volunteer 18+. If you know a young person with learning of other impairment, please bring them along some Wednesday night or just call in, this is the place for them.
