Inspiring young people to reach their full potential in spirit, mind and body.
About Lurgan:
Although the political climate in Northern Ireland has made huge shifts and there is a decrease in sectarian crime in general, Lurgan is still a deeply divided, sectarian community. It is physically segregated into Catholic (north) and Protestant (south) communities. The hatred, mistrust and violence definitive of our past is still evident in Lurgan. For the youth with whom we work, the main influencing life factors are the polarisation (lack of freedom to travel where they want in the town) and sectarianism (religious discrimination and acts of violence carried out against local youth). These factors are often fuelled by substance and alcohol abuse.
